Student teams from RoboNation competitions exhibit their vehicles, technical knowledge and skills. Don’t miss the chance to speak with these impressive young innovators and future leaders in robotics.
During XPONENTIAL, RoboNation will host RoboTour, a one-day free event on May 11, 2017, that introduces future generations of scientists and engineers to the exciting world of unmanned systems. Students in grades 5-12 will have an opportunity to tour displays and robotic hardware in AUVSI's XPONENTIAL exhibit hall to learn about contributions to the unmanned systems community. Advance registration will be required.
Participate in a hands-on demonstration of the SeaPerch remotely operated vehicle (ROV). SeaPerch is an easy to assemble underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle) that serves as a perfect entry point into robotics for middle and high school students. The SeaPerch curriculum was developed by the MIT Sea Grant College and provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV as part of a science and engineering technology curriculum. Throughout the project, students will learn engineering concepts, problem solving, teamwork, and technical applications.
Visitors will be able to test-drive a SeaPerch.
Developed as a follow-on to SeaPerch, SeaGlide is a new kit-based program. SeaGlide is a miniature, underwater glider—a non-tethered, autonomous robot that has no propeller and uses very little energy. It moves by changing its buoyancy, taking in or expelling water. This change in buoyancy causes the glider to rise and sink. As the glider travels up and down, its wings generate lift, which propels the glider forward. Utilizing the kit and professionally developed curriculum, this program introduces students to programming, coding, real-world sensing and data collection.
Visitors can race a SeaGlide and watch it fly under water.
